This is a post that will examine a particular fictional scenario for how technology will fit into the future:
The skyscrapers glimmered in the artificial light as we sped by them at a speed greater than light. We would not dare risk going over the speed limit, since the cops have bugs planted in every legal hover car that is sold to monitor speed. We were going to head to the local drone store to pick up our groceries but the government just informed us that malfunctions have kept the drones from docking. This entire district would have to wait. Hopefully we won't starve. Dad had to head to the local clinic because of a pesky flu that took effect. We docked into the station and headed into the clinic. At the check in desk, the retina scanners and blood samplers confirmed that we were who we are and automatically pulled up our insurance. Doctors have not been around since the med-tool was introduced to the public - anyone can pull the trigger on a device so robots have now taken that job. With a simple scan of his arm, the robot was able to eliminate the virus and also give another vaccine against this particular strain of flu. He instantaneously felt better and we would be on our way.

The Future
The Future of Technology
Often, discussions of the future are dominated by arguments of evolution, religion, and social implications. What many of us do not think about is what technology will be like in the future. I see a huge trend toward virtual reality and a growing emphasis on gadgets that can be displayed on the body (see the recent smart watch trend). We will have a multitude of gadgets that can aid the human body and also in medical practices. I've dreamed that we will one day have a gadget like in star trek that can just heal the wound with no problems and then we can be on our way. Imagine how easy that would be. No more month long stays in the hospital and most major diseases would be taken care of with the snap of a finger. What about flying cars? Will we be like the Jetson's one day? Flying cars would be a good and a bad thing. It would be good because we can fly! It would be bad because car wrecks would undeniably go up and it would almost always be a guaranteed death if someone wrecks in a hover car. The sky is the limit with what we are able to do with technology and I greatly look forward to how technology will grow.

Why Technology?
Technology and its role in the future:
-It seems that many people show unnecessary apprehension and disdain toward the growing development and impact that technology has had on our lives. I often hear people complaining about having to use the technology with the excuse "I want to go back to the old times" - i question that excuse when seeing things that technology can do for us today. What can we say to those people? Just show them the number of calculations that a super computer can do, the many uses of a raspberry pi, new delivery drones, and also many things that we take for granted - such as air conditioning, cars with tech features, and many appliances that we have come to love.
It's time to wake up to the future and abandon all ideas of what life should be like. Technology is here to stay and will continue to be a big part of the developing world. It will continue to play a role in solving our energy needs, helping countries grow into the future, and govern world markets with its huge impacts. Information Technology is a field that is rapidly expanding, too. Thus, technology is providing jobs for people as a trade skill.
